New Plant Manager named at PWB

Cindy Hartford, who started in PWB’s Quality Assurance Department in 1996, has been appointed Plant Manager effective September 1st when the current manager, Tom Leboe, retires after 50 years’ service at the Prince George brewery.

PWB CEO Taizan Komatsu said: “We are excited that Cindy will bring her expertise and keen attention to detail to her new role.

“It is with much emotion that we announce the retirement of Tom Leboe after almost 50 years of loyal service to PWB.  Tom’s dedication to PWB has made a difference that is hard to adequately measure. He will be missed.”

Cindy started in the Quality Assurance Department on July 15th, 1996.  She has proven herself over the years by developing new “ready to drink” products (vodka sodas and ciders) and ensuring that the QA department has run smoothly.  She has continuously inspired staff to achieve high standards.

“In early 2018, Cindy distinguished herself during the installation of the New Krones Filler and Pasteurizer, ensuring the project was accomplished on time and on budget.  She was recognized for these achievements by being promoted to Operations Manager,” Komatsu said.

Tom started working at the Brewery on December 22nd, 1969 as part of the labour pool.  Six owners later, on March 1st, 1991, he became the Plant Manager, a position he held until his first “retirement” in August of 2012.  Tom continued as a “special advisor” to senior plant management until January 2018 when he was asked to return full time and resume his role as Plant Manager.

Komatsu said: “We are grateful that Tom will be an integral part of the training process as Cindy transitions into her new position.”
