PWB 60th BIRTHDAY BASH A ROARING SUCCESS!

PRINCE GEORGE, BC (August 13, 2017) – More than 2,200 fans of Pacific Western Brewing turned out Saturday night to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of brewing on the banks of the Nechako River in Prince George … with more than 1,600 in attendance for the Open House.

Pacific Western Brewing’s milestone anniversary was celebrated with a family friendly Open House and peaked with an evening of rock n’ roll featuring Trooper, April Wine, and PG’s very own Audio Union.

Before her death in July, 2018, PWB Owner and CEO, Kazuko Komatsu looked back on her decades of commitment to PWB and Prince George: “I have been the owner of this brewery for 26 years now and my goals are simple: make quality products and sell them at a fair price. Also, I continue to strive to provide good jobs for my employees and to continue supporting the community where we work.”

PWB CEO Kazuko Komatsu cuts the 60th anniversary cake with the help PWB marketing guy Kyle Sampson.

“In the years to come, we will continue to invest in new equipment for our brewery to improve our ability to deliver new products and to always be a leader in the brewing industry. I will also continue to support initiatives where PWB is able to be involved in the wonderful community of Prince George,” Kazuko said at the time.

PWB’s marketing, events and sales leader in Prince George, Kyle Sampson, says: “Our brewery was a busy place Saturday. Annually the Open House is an opportunity for us to open our doors to the public to learn about our brewing process, taste our wide variety of products, have a bite to eat and enjoy all the other activities. The event was completely free of charge and everyone was welcome.”

Among the many special guests at the Annual Open House was Todd Doherty, MP for Cariboo-Prince George who praised the brewery and its owner.

“Kazuko, you truly are an inspiration to us all,” Doherty said. “Under your leadership, PWB has achieved much success. To the entire PWB team, thank you for all you do and for providing us all with an amazing local product, with an incredible local story. We celebrate 60 years today … Perhaps the best is yet to come.”

Over the years, PWB has invested in improving the brewing process with a constant eye on quality. That focus has been recognized by the achievement of ISO Quality Certifications Standard ISO 9001, the highest level of standardization available. Pacific Western Brewing became the first North American brewery to achieve ISO certification.
